Before You Start

You only need to tell us enough to understand the problem.

01

You do not need legal terminology

Describe what happened in your own words. A4A can help identify the most suitable legal pathway.

02

Assistance starts with an assessment

A4A will first consider the issue, eligibility, available resources and whether another service may be more appropriate.

03

Keep the first request brief

Do not send confidential evidence or highly sensitive case documents through the first-stage website form.

Who We Help

Check whether A4A may be able to assist

A4A's services are intended for people who cannot afford a private lawyer, especially women and children, persons with disabilities, low-income individuals, victims of rights abuses and people in rural or deprived communities. Eligibility may also depend on the nature of the legal issue, available resources, conflicts of interest, geography and applicable policy.

You do not need to decide whether you qualify before contacting A4A. An initial assessment is used to understand your circumstances and determine whether A4A can assist or signpost you elsewhere.
